Despite President Muhammadu’s national address affirming the disbandment of thye Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS and the extensive reform of the Nigerian Police Force, protesters have vowed to continue as the speech they believe falls below expectation.
Nigerians are not only demanding for the outright dissolution but to bring to justice SARS operative involved in extra-judicial killings and brutalisation of victims. They are calling for compensation to victims of SARS and police brutality.
The protesters also insist the dissolution of SARS must come with an executive order signed by the president,
Monday;s protest which went ahead with thousands of youths across the country despite the announcement from the IGP Adamu recorded massive police brutality. There were footages from protesters showing police firing gunshots and killing some protesters. Scores of protesters were also arrested and efforts at releasing them was still ongoing,
