NIGERIANS HONOUR JOE BLANKSON, YOUNG MAN WHO DROWNED AFTER SAVING 13 PERSONS, RAISE €340 IN GO FUND ME ACCOUNT

A 36 year old young Nigerian man from Rivers State who died while rescuing boat accident victims has been honoured by Nigerians on Twitter who called on the Federal and Rivers State Government to give him due recognition.

Joe Blankson was reported to have rescued 13 persons out of 25 on July 28th, 2018 after a boat mishap bit drowned while making attempts to rescue the 14th.

The father of 2 may have died of exhaustion as  reported by the police spokes person for the state.

NIGERIANS REACT

Many Nigerians have taken to micro blogging handle Twitter to honour Mr. BLANKSON and call on the government to honour him and his family.

Adeyemi@pastore4u tweeted that ‘the relative difference betwwen this guy and the Malian guy who saved a baby in France is location – Africa.’ He further tweeted,

‘Should I tell you how this will be celebrated and remember, if a white man picks up his story and shares it and the government comes all the way down to celebrate him. Then you will see osinbajo and Buhari forming famzing the family. When will Africa love Africa.’

Akinitan O Obilana@Aobilana tweeted ‘It should be on record that this man sacrificed his life for 13 other lives who are a source of joy to their own family. When humanity start to think like this man without saying “I have a family to keep or my children are young”, the world will be a better place.’

340 POUNDS RAISED IN 4 DAYS

A €4000 go fund me account was opened online by some Nigerian and have raised €340 in four days as at 9:00am Sunday morning.

The fund is being raised to help his family probably his wife and the 2 children he left behind.

 

Joe Blankson is a true hero and it is time the Nigerian government began to value human life and honour our dead heroes publicly. This is what will make Nigerians patriotic.

I commend those behind the go fund me account and encourage Nigerians all over the world to make a donation however how small. €1 is about N500 and that can make a difference.
